Love Your Earth
“What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another” Mahatma Ghandi. Did you know that in the past 50 years, humans have consumed more resources than in all previous history (EPA 2009). Most of the earths harm is anthropogenic. If we have caused so much demolition, don’t you think we can substantially slow down that destruction by learning how to protect our planet instead of continuing to harm it? Most people see the environment only as an aesthetic contribution to our lives here on earth, and to a certain extent, that is fine.…

Live Slow
Our world moves so fast. It has become so easy to be impatient and short-tempered towards people for being certain ways, but can we really? Deep down we all know we need to change systematically. Our society has engrained this fast living, “go-go-go” mentality, which leaves us wanting more and more, and instantaneously. What I say to that is to take some time to relax, sit back, and be one with yourself. We need it as a society, we owe ourselves to it. Children know how to live, maybe we can learn from them. They are so happy because they tend to follow their hearts and do what they love.…

Our Natural Environment
Whilst being outdoors, surrounded by the gorgeous forest, I had time to think; thinking about how harmonious each ecosystem can be. Acorns were falling from the trees all around me, and the species behind this were birds. Why would they drop these acorns? I then thought, maybe these birds have adapted to drop the acorns since they’re in a symbiotic relationship. After observing what the birds were doing, I thought even deeper. All organisms within an ecosystem work perfectly together, to uphold the habitat. That alone is so beautiful, and holds great meaning. As people, we’ve been slightly removed from nature. Nature is at the core of who we are,…

Human Interaction
Growing up, I felt as though I wanted to be affirmed more, to be validated. In more recent times, I am learning the most important validation is what I tell myself and how I feel about myself. I am also learning that since it is so important to me, I should vocalize what I find to be great qualities in others. I find that when someone tells me something positive it makes me want to try ten times harder to continue to uphold that quality. Lately, I haven’t been holding back in telling others the positive things I think and feel about them. And of course, these are things I…

The Philodendron Birkin
My favorite thing about repotting a plant is seeing how much it has grown inside of its current pot. Today I had the privilege of repotting and propagating one of my favorite plants – a Philodendron Birkin. If you have been on my blog and read my previous posts, you would know that I see a lot of symbolism and crossover between life and nature. Certainly, this Birkin was ready to be put into a new pot since it had a lot of bound root. I propagated the Birkin and it ultimately went from one plant to four smaller ones. What this tells me is that as humans, when we…

People and Plants
People are like plants. We thrive based on different needs. Water a plant too much, and it might die; water a plant too little and it might wither away… So what is the answer then you may ask? The answer lies in studying and knowing a person. The power of treating and caring for others in a way they will understand is paramount. People who feel appreciated, loved, and cared for will always show up. This is one of the many basic secrets of life. [s.t.]

The World Around Us
Does the ocean speak to you like it speaks to me? Does it show you how calm it is, yet how strong it is when need be? Do you feel the energy a tree provides? The love it freely provides? Do you hear the way the wind rustles in a forest, emulating that of the sounds of ocean waves? After reading all of this, wouldn’t you think more people would want to be kinder to the beautiful world that is surrounded by us? [s.t.]

The Rise and Fall of Society
In order to have a rise, there must be a fall. I mean think about it, this has been seen countless times in history. People rise in adversity and the challenges that are endured in one’s own life. Life will always have its ups and downs, just like a heartbeat. I think most of us can see that the world has fallen face first. However, because of the law of life, there will be a rise. I cannot wait to be a part of that. We all have a choice to be a part of the rise and be change we want to see. If we truly believe and continue…

Small Actions of Change Lead to Bigger Results
Recently, I came to a sudden realization. The statement “living in the moment” may often come off merely as motivational words. However, I realize the smallest of actions can have tremendous results such as inspiring or changing other people’s perspective. Take something as simple as singing or dancing in public, and someone happens to look over – a quick half a second glance. And for a moment, just think how that quick glance is enough to spark inspiration or joy within someone. And from that, they then take that seed and sow it somewhere else in the world. Actions are very reciprocating. As humans, we like to emulate and aspire…

Can’t Wait …
I can’t wait until we can all gather together again. I can’t wait to worship and sing at the church again. I can’t wait to feel normal again… But until then, I will respect those who may not be able to handle an illness as I may… I will put my life on halt so that others can have a chance at their life You see … we are all on this journey together, we must work together. It’s not just about me, its about we. [s.t.]
